Bronze Sculpture by Robert Schefman

This bronze sculpture is dates to 1984 and is by the American sculptor Robert Schefman and was acquired from a prominent collector in Palm Beach, Florida. The sculptor has captured a draped figure and our imagination must interpret what this image conjures in our minds.  Is the person levitating?  Is the person a thought or dream?  These questions and others are for the individual viewing the piece.

The piece is very much in the style of pieces created by the American sculptor Matt Johnson and an example would be "Levitating Woman 2012".  This piece was exhibited in Oslo, Ekeberg park.

Note:  The piece is cast bronze mounted on a steel base.

Note:  Sculpture with out Base Dimensions are 8" height x 13.25" width x 5.13" depth.

About Robert Schefman
Born 1952 Detroit, Michigan, USA:  Robert Schefman, a native of Detroit, Michigan, earned a BFA in Sculpture from Michigan State University in 1974, an MA in Sculpture from the University of Iowa in 1976, and an MFA from the University of Iowa in 2006. Schefman lived and worked in New York City for thirteen years. He returned to the Detroit area in 1989.

This Lucite sculpture is by the sculptor Michael Bene' and here he it would seem to be that he has captured two lovers embracing. As the two lovers embrace they seem to form the shape of a heart. The artist use of blues for one figure and rose for the other which seem to be mingling and transforming with the intensity of the embrace. As we all know art is an individuals interpretation.
