Pair of 19th Century Engravings of English Fox Hunting Scenes

This pair of engraving are handsome in their high-gloss black lacquered and gold-toned frames. Each image capturing the spirit of the English fox hunt and its deep connection to the landed-gentry. 

These pieces were created one year apart from each other. But, they still complilment each other as a set.

The first engraving is titled "The Meet at Melton" and was engraved by W. Humphreys on November 1, 1841 and painted (hand-colored) by F. Grant. The piece is dedicated to "His Grace the Duke of Wellington". This engraving from the original piciture in his possession.

The second engraving is titled "The Bedale Hunt" and was engraved by W.H. Simmons on June 27, 1842 and painted (hand colored) by Anson A. Martin. The piece is dedicated to "Mark Milbank, Esquire of Thorpe Perron, Yorkshire. This engraving from the original in his possession and was presented by "The Gentlemen of the Hunt".

This woodblock by L.J. Miller has great impact and movement with its bold color choices and graphic lines. The piece is pencil signed in the lower right corner and titled in the lower left corner.

Iconic Statue of Liberty Lithograph by J. Holbrook "The Cherry-Man," 1980

This amazing lithograph was created by the artist J. Holbrook in 1980. Holbrook was nick-named "The Cherry-Man" his pieces always had images of cherries in them. There was a companion piece to this showing the Arc de Triomphe engulfed in cherries... that piece has already sold.

Henri Bernard Goetz (September 29, 1909 – August 12, 1989) was a French American Surrealist painter and engraver. He is known for his artwork, as well as for inventing the carborundum printmaking process. His work is represented in more than 100 galleries worldwide.
